01In brief

Agam Rudberg is an actress, singer, and fashion model whose career includes television, theater, and film. Her professional career began with a Cherry Coke commercial in 2001, following childhood journeys from Ramat Tzvi to Tel Aviv that required four buses and left her with no money for food unless she brought it from home. She became known for playing Shirley Barzilai in Ahava Me’ever LaPina and later won the Israeli Television Academy award for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in Hazarot.

02Early Life

Rudberg was born and raised in Moshav Ramat Tzvi in the Galilee, where her family had a dairy farm.[4] Her father died when she was ten, leaving her mother to raise four children and manage the farm.[4] She later recalled that her mother supported her pursuit of advertising work despite the family’s difficult circumstances.[4]

Her interest in acting began in childhood: at ten, she brought her mother an advertisement seeking children for commercials.[2] Traveling from Ramat Tzvi to Tel Aviv required four buses, and she carried exactly 50 shekels to cover the fare.[2] “If I didn’t bring a sandwich, I wouldn’t eat that day,” she recalled.[2] Her appearance in a Cherry Coke commercial in 2001 marked the beginning of her professional career.[2]

03Early Career and Military Service

In the 2002 production Aba Shachor Lavan (Black-and-White Father), Rudberg played Michal, a teenager seeking to reconnect with her father after he returns to religious observance and disappears from her life.[2] Dan Toren played the father.[2]

From 2003 to 2005, she portrayed Shirley Barzilai in the Channel 2 telenovela Ahava Me’ever LaPina (Love Around the Corner), which ran for 290 episodes.[2] She moved to live with relatives in Tel Aviv during filming.[2] Shirley’s storyline included sexual assault by her partner.[2] Reflecting on this stage of her career, Rudberg said: “I don’t apologize for doing telenovelas. I’m an actress, and my purpose is to entertain.”[2]

Rudberg joined the IDF’s Military Theatre in 2005 and appeared in HaHayal Haze Hu Ani (This Soldier Is Me), playing a soldier who says she was raped.[2] She later described her military work as including a touring play and hosting events for overseas donors to the IDF.[5] Her compulsory service also affected her civilian career: after she was selected for the lead in Queen of the Class, filming was postponed until March because she could not obtain release from the IDF for the production.[1]

04Acting Training and Theater

After her army service, Rudberg lived in New York for two years, studied acting, and appeared in two stage productions.[4][5] She then returned to Israel to study at Yoram Loewenstein’s acting school.[4] Having decided that she wanted to attend that school, she waited a year when registration had already closed rather than audition elsewhere.[4]

Rudberg regarded joining Beit Lessin Theatre in 2013 as a significant career milestone.[5] In Nina Raine’s Tribes, she played Sylvia, a young woman who loses her hearing, and performed entire scenes in sign language.[4][5] She described Sylvia as particularly close to her, explaining that the character’s fear of dependence and of being seen as impaired resonated with her.[4]

She also appeared in Beit Lessin’s revival of Moshe Shamir’s He Walked Through the Fields, whose cast included her in 2017.[6] In a 2024 interview, she discussed appearing in the theater’s Sipur Ahava (Love Story), a play about two women who fall in love.[5] By 2026, she said she had taken a break from theater while raising her two young daughters and working on screen projects.[7]

05Television and Film

Rudberg’s television work expanded into adult drama with Zohar in Pzueim BaRosh in 2013 and Dana Riskin, an ambitious doctor, in the fantasy medical drama Metim LeRega in 2014.[2] Both performances received favorable reviews.[2]

For the 2020 miniseries Anat Elimelech: The Most Beautiful Girl in Jerusalem, she portrayed model and actress Anat Elimelech.[2] In preparing for the role, Rudberg worked with Elimelech’s family, who shared personal possessions and details about her clothing, jewelry, and perfume.[2] With the family’s permission, she wore Elimelech’s earrings and clothes and used the perfume Elimelech had worn.[5]

In the 2020 comedy series Hazarot (Rehearsals), Rudberg played Maya Gutman, an actress seeking recognition as a serious performer.[2] The role drew on similarities between the character and Rudberg’s public image.[2]

In 2024, Rudberg said she was filming Patrick, a television series starring Shalom Assayag.[5] She also identified Indal, a HOT series about police racism against Ethiopians, as an upcoming project at the time.[5] In 2025, she was among the actors appearing in Israeli student films included in that year’s Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival.[8]

In 2026, Rudberg played Dina in the KAN 11 sports dramedy Kol Ha’ima’ot Meshakrot, rendered in English as All Mothers Lie or All Moms Lie.[7][9] Dina is a researcher and a member of a mothers’ sports team, characterized as “relentlessly positive.”[9] Her storyline concerns quiet, controlling abuse by her husband and her growing recognition of the relationship’s toxicity through joining the group of mothers.[7]

06Hosting and Business Activities

Rudberg became the host of Double on the Money, a KAN 11 reality program in which pairs receive 500 shekels and attempt to double the amount repeatedly through business ideas and initiatives, competing for a quarter-million-shekel prize.[7] It was the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation’s first reality program and her first significant television-hosting role.[7] She said she had previously declined a reality-hosting offer because the program did not reflect her values.[7]

Her business interests also included real estate and acting education.[4] In 2016, she said she had begun investing in property at age 20 and preferred investments she could physically inspect.[4] With her then-partner, actor Gal Amitai, she established a youth acting studio.[4] At the time of the interview, it had 70 students across two locations, in central Israel and the south, and Rudberg taught there herself.[4]

07Legacy and Recognition

In April 2021, Rudberg won the Israeli Television Academy award for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for playing Maya Gutman in Hazarot.[3] She also donated her salary from Anat Elimelech: The Most Beautiful Girl in Jerusalem to a shelter for battered women in southern Israel.[2]

08Controversies

A 2004 Skechers youth-fashion commercial featuring Rudberg was rejected for broadcast by the Second Authority for Television and Radio, which objected to sexualized and violent elements.[2] A softened version was subsequently approved.[2] Rudberg defended the advertisement as humorous rather than sexual, saying that only someone with a “dirty mind” would interpret it sexually.[2]
