03History
The moshav was established in 1936 by pioneers from East and Central Europe.[1][2] It was named for the Canadian Zionist Aharon (Archibald J.) Freiman.[1]
An archival map record shows Bitan Aharon with neighboring Beit Herut and Kfar Vitkin along the route of the Ma'abrot water line, pipe 24. It also marks a TAHAL (Water Planning for Israel) reservoir area, telephone poles, pipes extending from a canal, a government employees' convalescent-home area, and handwritten notes concerning Jewish National Fund land. The record documents water and communications infrastructure and land administration around the three communities.[4]
In 1945, Arie Regev, who later became an Israeli military officer, moved with his family to Bitan Aharon. He grew up and completed his studies there. After leaving active service, he returned to the moshav to continue developing the family agricultural holding.[5]
