02Overview

Adi is situated near Highway 79 between HaMovil Junction and Somekh Junction, in the Shefaram region of the Western Lower Galilee.[1][2] Administratively, it is a community settlement under the Emek Yizrael Regional Council in the Northern District's Jezreel subdistrict.[3][2]

03History and Housing Development

Adi was established in 1980.[1] In January 2001, following a government decision to reduce regional land prices, the Jezreel Valley Regional Council projected 2,000 new housing units that year across community settlements, kibbutzim, and moshavim. Adi was among more than seven settlements where new neighborhoods were planned, alongside Shimsheet, Ahuzat Barak, Alonim, Hanaton, Yifat, and Merhavia; the report did not provide an Adi-specific unit total.[4]

By 2012, Adi was marketing Stage C of its phased expansion, with 29 plots for sale. The average price of a 400-square-meter plot was approximately NIS 700,000, including development expenses, while the estimated combined cost of land, construction, and development was about NIS 1.7 million.[2] Construction in the Tamar expansion neighborhood offered several house models for new families and emphasized preserving Adi's rural character and landscape.[2]

04Demographics

Adi had 1,705 inhabitants on December 31, 2004.[1] The 2022 locality file recorded an end-of-year population of 1,892: 1,891 in the "Jews and others" category, including 1,876 Jews, and 1 Arab resident.[3][5]

In the 2019 socioeconomic characterization, Adi's index population was 1,909.68, its socioeconomic index value was 1.8025, and it ranked 970 out of 995 localities. It was assigned to cluster 9 on a 1-to-10 scale, while the regional council had a separate cluster rating of 8.[6]

A 2023 report on demographic trends across Jezreel Valley settlements recorded 36 students finishing 12th grade in Adi, compared with 21 children entering first grade and 14 entering kindergarten. The figures were part of a valley-wide comparison and were not accompanied by an Adi-specific explanation.[7]
